Foundation for the Future

A member-wide visioning process in 2009 set priorities about the future of the parish to accomplish the church’s mission to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ. In it, the church’s leadership and general congregation agreed that a master plan for the property was needed so that issues regarding visibility and future development could be addressed. In early 2011, the Vestry hired LBA Architects Inc. to develop a master plan with the help of the St. James Building and Development Committee. A five-phase master plan was completed in the fall of 2011.

Construction of Phase I was completed in January 2014. This $1.5 million phase included a new entrance directly to Highway 105; a renovated, larger parking lot that provides safer access to all buildings; and a large plaza at the entrance to the church that is an outdoor gathering place as well as the connecting point for future buildings. Drainage, electricity, and other infrastructure improvements also were made to carry the campus through the 21st Century.

The capital campaign, Foundation for the Future, began in the fall of 2012 and will conclude in December 2015. Financial commitments are being paid over three years (2013-2015) and are considered over and above annual giving for operating costs.
