Get involved

Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you through your Son Jesus Christ: Inspire our witness to him, that all may know the power of his forgiveness and the hope of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayer for the Mission of the Church, Book of Common Prayer

St. James the Apostle offers numerous opportunities for involvement in ministry both on and off campus. There are opportunities in worship, education, evangelism, outreach, administration, long-range planning, pastoral care and parish life.

Consider how you can use your gifts and interests to the glory of God at St. James. As the Body of Christ, we depend on each and every member to fulfill God’s purpose for our parish. That includes you! Find out more about opportunities for ministry by calling the Parish Office or talking with a member of our clergy or any member of St. James.

Helping Others

St. James has a long tradition of service to the local community, the nation and the world – an outgrowth of love fostered by our love for one another. We have several opportunities for hands-on ministry to those in need. These include…

As well, our annual financial contributions to the Episcopal Diocese of Texas used for mission work far beyond our parish. We also provide financial support for the writing of grants and other requests that actually fund ministries in our local area.

Crossroads Bible Institute

This program, a part of Crossroad Bible Institute, is a correspondence Bible study between prisoners and volunteers. The Crossroad Bible Institute acts as an intermediary, which provides a safe environment for both parties. Research shows that only fourteen percent of released prisoners will commit another crime if they have studied the word of God while initially incarcerated, compared to seventy five percent of prisoners who do not study. Participation in the program takes about an hour a week.
