HUNGRY FOR HELP
With only a week’s worth of food left and rising unemployment numbers, the Montgomery County Food Bank warehouse is looking more like Old Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard than an agency that fed 4.5 million people last year.
St James has long supported the Montgomery County Emergency Assistance and the Martin Luther King Jr. Center food pantries, and we have an opportunity to rally to the cause again. Next time you are in a grocery store consider picking up a few extra items to bring to the church. Sam's sells many food items in packages of 8 or twelve cans, for example. The large restaurant sizes are NOT needed, as the food will go to individuals and families. Here are some of the items in particularly short supply: chili, Spam, tomatoes, jelly, toilet paper, paper towels, water, spaghetti noodles and sauce, rice, breakfast cereal, powdered milk, all vegetables. Bring whatever you can to church on Sundays and we will assure that it gets to the needy families. Thanks for your support.

Babysitting is provided..

The Facilities Maintainence
Facilities Maintainence Team
The Facilities Maintenance Team is looking for volunteers. We have a great group, but we need some more people to participate. We need men and women who are willing to give a couple of hours a month to check fire extinguishers, check and change light bulbs, change air conditioning filters, do easy plumbing repairs and take the occasional call to do something. On-the-job training is available and you can be paired with a buddy. Come join our team and help keep our campus looking its best. If you would like to join this great ministry, please call Melissa Woolsey at the church office, 936-756-8831 and leave a message for Chevis Griffin, Junior Warden.
